Two years ago I replaced my seven year old HTC Touch Cruise with for the Nokia Lumia 1020 with a 41 MP camera.
Before i had the Nokia Lumia 1020 i worked with the Windows Phone HTC Touch Cruise. Which was a good Phone when it came out. But when the Touch Cruise got older I became frustrated of the camera’s 3MP. And just like anyone else i also look at phones that other people had the past few years and i noticed a huge difference in camera quality.
I care more about hardware on a Phone and i do not care for apps on a Phone. That is why i choose a Windows Phone over a Android Phone.
Apps are like software on a pc to me. You can look for a Windows alternative and there are many apps installed in the Windows Store. It’s actually the same as for android users, once you are used to a certain system, you do not want anything else anymore.
The reason why i bought this Phone is because of the 41 MP camera which is still the best camera Phone resolution t this very moment. The pictures taken with this camera are amazing and you can create full HD videos.
If you use the Phone to create videos you have to understand that recording videos with a mobile Phone is limited. With a Nokia Lumia you can record a video for approximately two hours until the battery dies.
If you want to record video for a longer time i do recommend taking a normal video camera with you. The Nokia Lumia 1020 makes a great spare video camera. But using a normal video camera on which you can exchange the battery is recommended.

The disadvantages of the Nokia Lumia 1020
- If you go to a concert the lights used in a concert can cause less quality video recordings
- No SD slot
- The battery life if you decide to use the camera for HD filming (but it’s normal that it will have a smaller battery life when using the Phone to shoot videos).
- You cannot replace the default battery with one of higher capacity to take videos in full HD for a longer time
- The display resolution is not full HD
The disadvantages of the Nokia Lumia Camera Grip
- The camera grip will not protect your Phone against a fall, it will only extend the battery life of your phone.
Conclusion
I will buy a new Nokia or Microsoft Lumia again after this Nokia Lumia reaches his end of life. I think the Nokia Lumia is great to make videos with, it’s small and you can easily make videos with the Phone. The one thing that it lacks is the possibility to easily remove the battery and use a different battery like you could do with a normal video camera. If you want to record videos all day the Nokia Lumia’s battery will not allow you to record videos for more than two hours straight before you need to charge the battery again. The Nokia Lumia 1020 is a great extra (video) camera though if you have a video camera and the Nokia Lumia 1020 you are always sure you can take as much videos and photos you can in one day.
I know that Nokia will make a comeback in the smartphone department. They First sold the Lumia phones to Microsoft. I think either the Microsoft lumia Phones or the new Nokia Smartphones have the potential to become better and better. Someday we will have smartphones with 4K video quality and easily replaceable batteries just like on a normal camera.
